Certificates of Deposit

Certificates of Deposit (CDs) offer fixed and often enhanced yields on investments. They require the customer make certain minimum deposits for specific lengths of time.

  • CDs offer you peace of mind with FDIC insurance.
  • CDs have excellent earnings potential, without risk, providing you with steady and safe financial growth.
  • Community First Bank offers a variety of CDs at competitive market rates to all levels of savers and are available for personal or business customers.

Standard CDs require a minimum deposit of $1,000 to $2,500 with terms from 90 days through five years.

Special CDs may require a higher minimum opening balance and may offer higher rates of interest. Some offer higher rates for CFB checking account holders.

Jumbo CDs are for larger investors and require a minimum deposit of $100,000. Terms range from one month up to one year and may offer higher rates of interest.

See our Interest Rates Page for a complete list of our CDs with current interest rate yields.

The interest rate earned on CDs is fixed for the term of the deposit. CD interest is compounded and credited to your account quarterly. On all balances of $25,000 and over, interest can be paid monthly into an account or by check. Rates are subject to change at the discretion of the bank. A substantial penalty may be assessed for early withdrawal.

IRA Certificates of Deposit

An IRA (Individual Retirement Account) is the mainstay for many retirement strategies. Whereas many retirement investment vehicles are susceptible to the ups and downs of uninsured markets, an IRA CD can help offset uncertainties with predictable and favorable interest earnings. They are FDIC-insured and among the safest retirement investments around. Depending on which IRA CD you choose (Traditional, Roth or Coverdell Education Savings Account), your money grows with tax-deferred or tax-free compound interest. IRA Certificates of Deposit may be subject to substantial IRS penalties for early withdrawal.
